i can hear the neighbors downstairs playing mazzy star. and while it makes me feel nostalgic - reflective, even - it also is at just the perfect distance and softness to make me feel safe. enveloping me, swallowing me up through the floorboards and the walls. and i don’t care how that sounds, nor reads. it’s nice to have neighbors sometimes.
